Dublin language week

From the 5th to the 12th of April, we – the 3ak – went on an unforgettable journey to Dublin, with our teachers, professor Kostial and professor Moser. Once we had arrived, we were picked up by our host families and for the remaining evening, we shared a delightful supper while getting to know them.

On our first full day in Dublin, we explored the iconic Powerscourt and Glendalough whilst being accompanied by a quite stereotypical Irish weather. Sunday, our only free day, was filled with loads of shopping, exploring the vibrant city, and spotting numerous pubs and restaurants. Throughout the week, we attended classes, divided into two groups, from early afternoon until the evening. The following days we embarked on different adventures like the orientation tour around Dublin, the Gravedigger ghost bus tour, which was for sure an unforgettable experience, and the historic Jeanie Johnston, where we got a lot of insight into the history of Ireland during the famine. On one evening we had an atmospheric and engaging bowling session, with some experiencing it for the first time. Indulging into Irish culture means also trying to master the art of Irish dancing. Despite facing challenges with some of the dance steps, the experience was thoroughly entertaining, and we enjoyed watching the captivating performances of the dancers.

As our time in Dublin drew to a close, we devoted our final day, either by a last-minute shopping spree or some more sightseeing, to get the most out of Dublin. In the evening, we bid farewell to our host families before heading to the airport. Safe and without any turbulence, we arrived back home at midnight with great memories that we will always look back to.
